German Language Competition 2024: Winners announced!

We invited learners of German to put together the front page of a fictional newspaper in the German-speaking world. The catch: they were writing the final edition of 2024 and had to select the most important stories of a year that had not yet finished.

 

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Institute of Languages, Cultures and Societies (ILCS) called for entries to the 2024 German Language Competition.

The jury commended the exceptional quality of language and creativity demonstrated in the entries. The articles displayed an impressive command of German and effectively applied well-researched background knowledge on key current affairs in the German-speaking world. We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 competition:

All of the winners will be invited to join a journalism workshop followed by the award ceremony on 25th October 2024 at Senate House London.

Also, everyone will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite entry to determine the winner of the People’s Choice Award. We will update you about the process to vote for your favourite entry here and on our social media channels.
